Janice Bicher, Alink’s new Executive Director, brings more than four decades of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, including intellectual disabilities and Autism Spectrum Disorders. She spent most of her career at the West Island CIUSSS, most recently as a Head of Socio-Professional Services on its rehabilitation team. There she led and managed programs that support vocational development, social participation and personal autonomy. She holds a Master’s degree in Organizational Development and has long focused on building strong, sustainable systems of care.
Throughout her career, Janice has been moved by moments that make independence possible — helping a young woman move into her first apartment and “watching a burly businessman have an epiphany as he realized the most dedicated and appreciative workers at his company were our clients and their educator.”
“I have spent my career working with people who are often ‘othered’ by society,” she said at Alink’s Lunch and Launch. “But they are the bravest and strongest people — contributing to the world simply by being their authentic selves, if only they are given the chance.”
As Alink’s housing initiatives move forward, Janice’s leadership will help ensure our grassroots vision grows into a sustainable model that supports neurodivergent adults throughout their lives. We are thrilled to have her at the helm.
