Portrait : Janice Bicher, première directrice générale d’Alink

Nommée première directrice générale d’Alink, Janice Bicher cumule plus de 40 ans d’expérience auprès de personnes vivant avec une déficience intellectuelle, un trouble du spectre de l’autisme ou d’autres défis développementaux. Elle a fait l’essentiel de sa carrière au CIUSSS de l’Ouest-de-l’Île-de-Montréal, où elle a notamment occupé le poste de responsable des services socio-professionnels au sein de l’équipe de réadaptation.

À ce titre, elle a piloté des programmes axés sur l’intégration au travail, la participation sociale et l’autonomie. Titulaire d’une maîtrise en développement organisationnel, elle s’intéresse depuis longtemps à la mise en place de services durables, capables d’accompagner les personnes tout au long de leur parcours.

Au fil des ans, dit-elle, ce sont souvent de petits tournants qui rendent l’indépendance possible : aider une jeune femme à emménager dans son premier appartement, ou encore voir « un homme d’affaires costaud avoir une épiphanie » en réalisant que « les travailleurs les plus dévoués et les plus reconnaissants de son entreprise étaient nos clients et leur éducateur ».

« J’ai passé ma carrière à travailler avec des personnes que la société marginalise souvent », a-t-elle lancé lors du déjeuner de lancement d’Alink. « Mais ce sont des personnes d’un courage et d’une force remarquables. Elles contribuent au monde en étant elles-mêmes — pourvu qu’on leur en donne l’occasion. »
